Senior fun day recount

Today, the 7th of December Totora team had a fun day. There were six choices. One was cooking, making a candy cane mouse, science, slip-n-slide, sports and swimming. I did all six of them. Sadly it took almost all morning tea to line up for candyfloss. The rest was fun though. My favourite activity was the slip-n-slide because we ran in groups or by our self and slid down on our stomach and our knees. It was amazing!

Athletics Training

At athletics training we did Long jump High jump shot-put and running sadly we did not do discus. In high jump we learnt to do the scissor jump and that is were we jump in a scissor shape with our legs and land on our feet. In long jump we learnt to jump from one foot and land with two feet that way we get more power into your jump. In shot-put we learnt to lean back then use your body to gain momentum and push the ball not throw it. In running we learnt to lean forward to propel your body in front of you also don't stop sprinting until you have crossed the finish line.

Exploration Rotations

A few days ago we did exploration rotations. The choices were Marble run, Knitting, Clay moulding, Sewing, Art, Photography, Chess and Origami. Sadly chess and origami were cancelled. I chose Clay moulding it was really fun. I made a birds nest, a snowman, a cacti and a flower. I did it with Kim and Ysabella. It was really interesting Ysabella made a rose it was stupendous it had so many very detailed layers. I loved it. The next activity I chose is Knitting I am really excited for that.

Felt Tikis

On Tuesday the 26th of June we went on a trip to the museum were we made a Tiki out of felt. The reason we went to the museum was to learn about tikis and there back story. My tikis head is tilted to the side and the only tiki that is bright green. It has beautifully stitched button eyes. My tiki has a beautiful pair of pants with purple patterned buttons on them. Tiki has one big green eye and one little blue eye.

Adaptation games

Today in room 3 we adapted snakes and ladders into giraffes and alligators. In snakes and ladders you have to go up the ladders and down the snakes. How it worked was if you land on an alligators mouth you go down its body and when you land on a giraffes legs you go up its neck. When you roll a dice and land on a six you add three to it. I worked with Kim and Kamiria we used green paint, cardboard and some printed giraffes and alligators. It was hard to make the giraffes and alligators the right size#

Bike-wise

On Monday room three did bike-wise at school. We got tort to put a helmet on properly. This is what we learnt. To make shore that the helmet is on tight enough you tighten it to your ears and make shore it can not come off your chin. This is how you check your bike is safe enough. To check the handle bars you put the front wheel in between your legs and squish it very tight then you move the handle bars. If they move they are not tight enough. If they don't move they are safe. This is another helpful tip make sure the quick release is closed. How you tell that it is closed is it says CLOSED on one side and OPENED on the other. When CLOSED bit is on the side of the wheel it is closed. Now for the fun part. We learnt to stop without putting our feet down and we also learnt to steer.

Jelly measure

Room three has been measuring Jelly. On Monday Kamiria, Kim and I had a cup that was  200mls and we  had two evenly split the jelly into five colours to make rainbow jelly. We decided to put 40mls of jelly per colour. Sadly the blue jelly got messed up so we only had four colours of jelly which means the orange jelly had 80mls. We had to measure it out very carefully using a measuring cup. We knew what the measurement was by going on my knees and looking carefully at the cup with the measurements on it. We worked out how much jelly we wanted to put in by doing subtraction.

This week we have been doing minecraft. We could work in a group or we could work by our self we had to work on mac books and it was very fun. We worked in a big group to make this amazing SKY TOWER! Inside there was a restaurant, a cafe, a bar and two secret hideouts.  It took a few days to finish it. We had middle and last block of yesterday to finish it. We are all glad that it is done.😃We added a sky jump off the top of the tower onto a target made of slime blocks. Make sure you are with an adult when on top floor. Thanks for reading my blog. '✌️

Jesus Tomb

Today in room 3 we made Jesus tomb. The things we needed were, sticks, leaves, grass, dirt, a plastic plate, a small cup, stones, a rubber band and the rest was optional. First, we covered the plate in dirt, then we put the cup on top of the dirt and cover that with dirt and a few leaves. After that you tie two sticks together in a cross and stick it in to the top of the cup. Finally you add the final touches like stones and rocks. The resurrection. Jesus died on the cross and they put him in a tomb. The three days later he rose from the dead. And he was the only person in the world who did it.

SWIMMING SPORTS 2018

On Tuesday 13th of March it was swimming sports. In this picture I was on a boat with Madeline and we were coming first. I could feel the splashes in my face from my paddle. I could smell the chlorine all around me as I was in the middle of the pool. I could hear lots of kids all different ages cheering me on. I was nervous to do the backstroke length but I did it anyway. I was proud that I joined in on all the races. I also came 2nd in the backstroke and breaststroke but came 3rd in the front-crawl. I was so close to beating my cousin in breaststroke but came second by 2 seconds. That was my first swimming sports I've ever been to  and I'm really proud of myself. I'm mostly  proud that I got into inter school without even training. It was freezing cold so I got warm and drank a little bit of hot chocolate. It was so fun and I am glad that I came. I also dived off the diving board and went really far. I beat the time in the widths and so did Maddy. It was the most fun I've had in ages.

At school we have been doing our times tables. So Mrs Dunkley gave us a peace of paper with all the times tables up to ten. Then we had to highlight all the times tables that we knew. I have been told that I need to practise five times tables for example, I need to practise 6x4, 7x4, 8x4, 9x4 and 6x6.

Redwoods children's day

REDWOODS
CHILDREN'S
DAY

This is my canvas for the Redwoods children's day and this is how i made it. First, I covered the canvas with little dots that turned into little crosses because the fabric absorbed it and spread it out. Next, we made leaf prints. To do this we paint different types of leaves and put them onto our canvas and push them down with a paper towel. After that you wait for it to dry and it turns out like this.

Ash wednsday

Today we went to Church. We put  some ashes on our for head made from dry palm leaves. After that they burn our promises. The reason we put ashes on our for heads is so we remember our promises and don't break them.
